1. Our identity and purpose
When you see "we," "us," or "our" in these terms, we're talking about the folks who run Book Blinks, also known as the "Company."
At Book Blinks, we offer a website building service tailored mainly for book authors and illustrators, although it's also used by other creatives like photographers and designers. It's a paid service, with monthly or yearly subscriptions. With Book Blinks, you can create your own websites, focusing mainly on Author and Book pages. Our goal is to give you control over your portfolio and let you express yourself freely.
We've designed a creation process that doesn't require technical expertise to get your website up and running. Author and Book pages help you guide your audience to online bookstores. Anything you upload, whether to the Author or Book page, belongs to you – it can be text, images, videos, and more. Once you publish it, others can view it on the website you've created.
We care about our Book Blinks community and expect everyone to respect each other's intellectual property. You should only upload content you've created or have permission to use. Make sure your content aligns with our guidelines and doesn't include prohibited items like spam or hate content.
2. Our Terms of Service
These terms include everything about using Book Blinks, including any other domains we might have, and all the content, services, and products we provide. If you use any part of our services, you agree to follow these rules. You have to be at least 16 years old to use our services. Cookies Policy and Privacy Policy are part of our terms.
2.1. Our approach on changes in these terms
We can change any part of these terms when we need to. If we do, we'll tell users by email or with a notice when they use our services. If you keep using our services after we make changes, it means you're okay with them. If you don't like the changes, you can stop using our services. If you're paying for a subscription, we'll give you back the part of your fee you haven't used.
2.2. Your responsibilities
When you share content on our services or let others do it, you're responsible for whatever happens because of it. That goes for anything you share, like pictures, words, or videos and sounds. Book Blinks can look at any content or how our service is used. If something breaks the rules or seems bad, Book Blinks can close the account or stop it from being used. If we do any of these things, we won't give a refund.
2.2.1. Your Book Blinks account
When you create your account or get any other info to keep things secure, you have to keep that information a secret. Don't tell anyone else. If you think someone else knows your password, tell us right away using the customer chat on our site.
2.2.2. Your use of our features
Don't use misleading or illegal keywords to describe your image galleries, books, or bios. If we find any descriptions or keywords that are inappropriate or harmful, we might change or remove them. We won't be responsible for any actions or mistakes you make, including any damages that result from them. If you notice any unauthorized use of your account or any security breaches, let us know right away.
2.2.3. Use of our services
We at Book Blinks can't check everything you upload or download because we don't have enough resources. So, we can't be responsible for what you do on your device. Just because Book Blinks offers this service doesn't mean we support or think the content posted through our services is accurate, useful, or safe. It's up to you to protect yourself and your computer from viruses and other harmful stuff. Our services might have offensive or incorrect content, or content that violates other people's rights or has extra rules. Book Blinks isn't responsible for any harm from people using our services or downloading content from here.
2.3. Our responsibilities
2.3.1. Our use of your content
When you add content to your Author or Book page, you're letting us share it via Book Blinks. We can show it, save it, and use it to talk about your work and our service. If you delete your content, we'll try to take it off our site and ads, but it might take a while. We won't sell or make money from your content, but we might use it to talk about awesome books and art. We'll always give you credit and link back to your page. If you don't want us to use your content, you can change your settings in the Dashboard. The nice things you say in reviews are ours to keep forever, because we like them and want to remember them.
2.3.2. Copyrights and harmful content
Book Blinks asks everyone to respect its intellectual property rights, and it does the same for others. If you think something on the services violates your copyright or you personally, please tell us. If we find someone has been breaking copyright, intellectual property or rules in general, we might stop them from using the services. If that happens, we won’t refund back any money they paid us before.
2.3.3. Service availability
We promise to keep our services running smoothly at all times. If there's ever a problem on our end that causes an interruption, we'll make it right by extending your subscription for the same number of days the service was down. Your satisfaction and uninterrupted access to our services are our top priorities.
2.4. Payments, refunds and renewals
When you use our paid services, you agree to pay Book Blinks the subscription fees listed on our website. These fees will be charged before publishing your website. Our refunds apply to subscription fees. The fees won't change during the subscription period unless otherwise stated. If we change our fees, we'll notify Users at least 30 days in advance via email. Sometimes, we offer promotions with minimum service terms. If you cancel or downgrade your account before the minimum term ends, we may charge a termination fee. 2.4.1. Auto-renewal
If you don't tell us you want to cancel before your subscription period ends, we will automatically renew, and we'll charge you the fees using your payment method on file. You can cancel your subscription anytime by emailing us at info@bookblinks.com.
2.4.2. Payment process
We use third-party payment processors to charge you for services using the payment account linked to your Book Blinks account. The way payments are handled follows the terms, conditions, and privacy policies of the Payment Processor, along with our terms. Currently, our payment processor is Stripe, and they process your payments based on their own terms and policies. You agree to pay us, through the payment processor, all charges at the current prices for any purchase, following the payment terms. You'll use the payment method linked to your account. We can fix any errors or mistakes in payments, even if the payment has already been requested or received.
2.4.3. Plan upgrades and downgradesWhen you upgrade your plan, the additional cost is adjusted based on your current subscription. For monthly subscriptions, the billing date remains unchanged. For yearly subscriptions, the new plan starts from the day you upgrade, and you'll pay the new annual rate from then on. You can't downgrade directly to a lower plan, but you can cancel your Premium plan and then purchase the Standard plan. Switching back to the Standard plan will disable Premium features. On yearly subscription refunds we will keep the discounted amaount.
2.5. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy details how we handle your personal information, covering its collection, use, and sharing for our own purposes. Remember, it's part of the terms, so make sure to give it a thorough read. Following data protection laws is crucial when using our services, especially regarding collecting others' personal information or utilizing cookies and similar technologies (including those we use for Author and Book page analytics).
2.6. Domain management
When you use our domain name registration services, you agree to follow the rules in this section. Using our domain services means you accept these terms. Our service package includes registering or renewing an internet domain name for you. You're responsible for keeping up with renewals and managing your domain's third-party services. Book Blinks offers technical support and services to help you set up your custom domain. If you need help with a more complex domain setup, you can hire one of our team members, we decide if it’s complex or simple.
2.7 Third-party services
Book Blinks work together with different third-party services and apps that offer their content and products to you. These can include social media platforms, customer services, payment processors and domain name registrars. Each Third Party Service has its own rules and policies, and you must follow those when you use them. We don't control these third-party services, and we're not responsible for them or for any transactions you make with them. It's up to you to stay safe when using third-party services. We may decide to stop or limit access to third-party services at any time without telling you. If this happens, we're not responsible for any losses you experience, like losing money or data.
2.8. Linking to Book Blinks
You can link to our homepage, but it should be done fairly and legally without harming our reputation or taking advantage of it. Don't make it seem like we endorse you if we don't. Don't frame our site on another site or link to any part of our site other than the homepage. We can withdraw linking permission at any time without notice. The website you're linking from must meet our content standards. If you want to link to or use our content in a different way, please contact us using the customer chat on our website.
